Field Marshal Arthur Wellesley 1769–1852), was an Anglo-Irish soldier and statesman, and one of the leading military and political figures of the nineteenth century. The hero of the Battle of Waterloo who defeated Napoleon in 1815.
Waterloo was the decisive engagement of the Waterloo Campaign and Napoleon’s last. According to Wellington, the battle was “the nearest-run thing you ever saw in your life.
