Very detailed interesting, copperplate engraving from the Jungfau region. The church is in the centre of the village with the mountains including the Eiger, looming above.The villagers are attending their cattle, and even resting and enjoying the view.
The engraving by Benard is from the French Encyclopaedia by Diderot and D’Alembert ” Minerologie 5m Collection Glaciers” circa 1772.
