Jean-Francois de Galaup Comte de la Perouse (1741-1788) commanded a French expedition with the frigates La Boussole and L'Astrolabe to complete Cook's Surveys. 
Copperplate engraved chart by Herault and engraved  by Bouclet, hand coloured.
In 1788 the expedition was ship wrecked, but the charts were saved and were published by L.Aubert in "Atlas Du Voyage de la Perouse"1797.
