Wood engraving with comment on back of print about slavery. On March 3, 1853, the little-known English painter Eyre Crowe, who travelled to America with author William Makepeace Thackeray. He saw an advertisement in Richmond, Va., for a slave auction which he attended and sketched. This is the continuation of the illustration which was eventually published in "The Illustrated London News" September, 27th 1856.
