Canton River, now known as Pearl River, or Zhujiang, is in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong. The river's estuary, Bocca Tigris, or 'Tiger Gate' is so-called after the shape of Tiger Island (now Dahu Dao). The north end of the island rises to a 180m high mass of sheer-sided granite. C.Stanfield, steel engraving, sketched by Capt.R.Eliot, hand coloured, engraved by Ed.Goodall, published by Fisher, 1830.
