Tower of London, 1842

Regular price £38.00 Sale

Tower of London has been employed as a fortress since the Norman Conquest. For five centuries it was used as a Royal palace, and also as a dungeon.
In this engraving the tower has a ghostly look, while in the foreground a couple of sailing ships can be seen on the Thames.
This is an illustration by W.H.Bartlett taken on the spot, from “Finden’s Ports and Harbours, Watering places, and Coast Scenery of Great Britain” by William Beattie, Published by George Virtue, 1842.
