Arcadia, Elis, Achaea, Triphylia and Zakynthos, or ‘L’Arcadie, L’Elide, L’Achaie, La Tryphilie et l’Ile de Zacynthe’ in French, from ‘Voyage du Jeune Anacharsis en Grece’ by Abbe Bartholomew. This publication documents the Travels of the Young Anacharsis in the middle of the Fourth century before Christianity. Barbie du Bocage, the cartographer and cosmographer, provided the maps which are edited and engraved by Ambroise Tardieu in 1824.

This beautiful map mainly shows the ancient regions of Arcadia and Elis, in particularly fine detail. It is worth looking at through a magnifying glass to see details such as the town of Olympia (Olympie in French) as well as other historically significant sites.
